I remember the moment Oregon became my home…
Driving through the winding hills outside of Portland, I was heading to my first job after college. I came around a corner to see the city skyline, the Willamette River and Mt. Hood in the distance. That’s when I knew — this is it.
To this day, I’m still awestruck by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest — the light, the trees, and even the rain. And I have a feeling you’re the same way. You’re planning a wedding with your favorite people and a big helping of Mother Nature as your setting and decor, and you’re looking for documentary style photography to capture it all.
You are exactly my kind of people, and I can’t wait to photograph your day.
Telling the story of your who, what, where, when and why
Portland wasn’t always home. I grew up between England and Arizona (which, yes, is about as different as two places can get) before earning my degree in photojournalism. I moved to the PNW to begin my career as a full-time photographer at a mid-size Oregon newspaper.
After years of working on the side as a second shooter for other wedding photographers, I built my own business as a PNW photographer.
Now, I’m still telling the “Five Ws” that are so important in journalism, but at weddings instead! It’s the very best of what I loved about being a photographer. My years in photojournalism — where you have to pivot fast and keep calm under pressure — mean that I’m a master problem solver. I’ve always got a back-up plan, a bobby pin for that stray hair or a mini-sewing kit for a loose button, plus the confidence to find the story and tell it with meaning. No matter what.
THE FRIEND WHO BRINGS THEIR CAMERA EVERYWHERE
I’m cracking jokes, swapping stories, and getting to know you in my journey to capture your relationship and all the little bits of personality that thread through your wedding day.
a snapshot of my favorite things
-
tea time
This is so British, but every morning starts with a cup of black tea with a splash of milk. And keep the Earl Grey far away, please.
-
baking
If I weren’t a photographer, I’d be a pastry chef. As long as I had an assistant to clean up the mess … it always looks like a bomb’s gone off after I bake.
-
travel
Travel is a huge part of my life. I’ve visited 30 countries and have so many more on my bucket list! Next dream destination: Iceland.
-
turtles
A few years ago, I got to swim with green sea turtles in Hawaii and have been obsessed ever since. They’re such mesmerizing and peaceful creatures.
